Dye Sub Printing for a Sustainable Future.

The future is Dye Sublimated Printing

The Green Touch

Water-Based Dyes

At the heart of dye sublimation printing lies the use of water-based dyes. Unlike their solvent-based counterparts, these dyes don't release harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) into the atmosphere. It's a small change that makes a significant impact, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

At Bandstand we print 80% of everything that goes out the door using the dye sublimation print process, and we're striving to increase this all the time.

minimising waste

No Waste, No Worries

One of the standout features of dye sublimation printing is its zero-waste approach. Traditional printing processes often involve water, leading to the risk of runoff into waterways. Dye sublimation eliminates this concern by not using any water in the printing process. The result? No waste finding its way into our precious water sources, ensuring sustainability at its core.

Instant Gratification

Dry Prints, No Energy Soaking

Picture this: Prints ready to use right out of the printer. No need for energy-hungry heaters to dry materials, as seen in traditional methods. With no water involved, the prints are dry and ready to roll as soon as they exit the printer. It's a time-efficient and energy-saving aspect that aligns perfectly with modern-day eco-conscious standards.

Tech Simplicity

Mass Production Made Easy

From a technical standpoint, dye sublimation printing offers a straightforward setup and administration. This simplicity translates into the convenience and advantage of mass production. Whether you're printing a handful of items or a bulk order, the process remains efficient, contributing to reduced resource consumption.

A Scientific Marvel

Sublimation Process Unveiled

Let's get a bit scientific here. The sublimation process, the backbone of dye sublimation printing, is a marvel in itself. By using heat and pressure, it converts solid particles directly into a gaseous state without the need for a liquid phase. This process not only delivers exceptional print quality but also carries significant environmental benefits.

Locked and Loaded

Pores, Dye, and Fabric Bonding

During sublimation, the high temperature opens the pores of the fabric. This is where the magic happens - the dye moves in, and the particles bond together. As the fabric cools, the pores close, ensuring the particles are securely embedded. This natural locking mechanism means that the prints won't fade, move, or wash away, contributing to the longevity of the product.

Making a difference, long term

We can use Zero Print Media's products in our dye sublimation process. That means they can be recycled into fence posts and used throughout New Zealand's all-important agriculture industry. To make a difference, you simply need to choose Zero Media for your display products and we'll take care of the rest. Once your display product needs to be replaced, simply send us the item, and we'll recycle it from our warehouse, sending whatever we can to Future Post, an innovative Kiwi company turning plastic waste into fence posts!

From 2024, our Specialists will always take the time to advise you of the costs for traditional media and Zero media, enabling you to make a choice based on your personal and brand values. In many instances, the Zero media option is only slightly more expensive than the traditional choice. But we'll let you decide because we know that price is an essential factor for many.
